Sailors Society cycle team breaks fundraising target

The four members of ABPmer’s staff who successfully completed the Deloitte and Sailor’s Society Charity Cycle on Sunday 10th May have beaten their fund raising target of £600. The team completed the ride in perfect weather, having travelled as far north as Stockbridge on the 45 mile route which started and finished in Mayflower Park, Southampton, on the banks of the Solent and raised a total of £781 overall.

Alison Houghton explained how pleased the team were with the prospect of raising more than they had planned, ‘We are so grateful that our friends, families and neighbours at work have stepped up to support us in our efforts. We have had a number of sponsorship donations from our corporate sponsors, which we are currently converting to funds for the Sailors Society through raffles and auctions. It is quite clear that we are going to raise more than our £600 target and would like to take the opportunity to thank all those who supported us.

In addition to sponsorship from colleagues at ABPmer and friends at the National Blood Transfusion Service at Southampton General Hospital, the team received support from A&A Business Supplies, Kuti’s Royal Thai Pier restaurant, the De Vere Grand Harbour Hotel, La Margherita restaurant and Marks & Spencer.

While the final fundraising activities are being completed the team’s ‘Just Giving’ web page is still live, where sponsorship pledges and donations may continue to be made online. The team’s ‘Just Giving’ web page is still live, where sponsorship pledges and donations may continue to be made online.
